Nature Insight: Comfort in Continuation

The year

even as

it’s dying

grows

into another.

Something simple this week, that I painted and captioned many years ago, with the intent of adding a little hope even where there is heartbreak – especially with the tragedy at Newtown, Connecticut in mind and heart. Prayers of healing for all who have been so broken by untenable violence – with the belief that love can prevail.

  1. Diane this is very beautiful in its simplicity and so apt for the current circumstances. And again your illustration is exquisite.

We have to keep hoping for love in this weird world and all we can really do I guess is keep close to our hearts (which I am sure all of us are doing) those families stricken with unthinkable grief. And keep on loving our own with all that we have. What else is there to say? I feel helpless.

    Love

    • Dear Christine … thank you! And, yes, there is such a feeling of helplessness when something so horrible and senseless happens. But, for my part, being committed to a ban on assault rifles and other such weapons for the ordinary citizen is something I can do. I pray every day that the US and a majority of its citizens will realize the great toll its obsession with gun ownership is taking and understand that the intent to violence (even in so-called self-defense) is what creates the environment for such violence. Blessings and love and joys of the season even in the midst of such heartache. We must always have hope. XO ♥ Diane

    • Hi, Ina. Thank you. And yes, it has caused such heavy grief. And at this time of year, everywhere you look are the reminders that Christmas is a happy time, especially for children. And so it should be. But how it accentuates the pain those parents must feel. (and, of course, those who knew and were related to the adults killed too) XO ♥

    • Thank you, countingducks. Such a horrific act. I hope something can come out of the healing process that can begin to make the US a less gun happy nation. Gun ownership has actually skyrocketed. What does that say? Scarey. Wishing you many blessings for the season.
