A Valentine Imagined

Daffodils like music can court the heart into stories that begin without end.

I followed the trail through mud and dust to walk mainly alone; the affairs of this life and others better recalled with imagination than regret.

When I stopped looking, love stopped leaving.

Everywhere is an embrace; the place I find myself is full of possibilities for engagement.

I cannot look at the moon and believe I am unloved, sense a breeze and be unmoved, know the birds’ song and feel forgotten.

There are flowers enough to romance me, even in winter I can paint them into view.

There are words enough to convince me that what I create is the only lover I need.

And so I am foolish still.

    • Thank you, Caddo. I know for myself, reading something I can relate to in a personal way is like having a secret conversation with my heart and spirit. It pleases me if I can, at least, offer that. Blessings. XO ♥

  1. Hi Diane, this is lovely, everything can be found in nature perhaps. If you look at moon and birds in the way you can, you are lucky! And you make the most beautiful art from there.
    Happy Valentine’s day! ♥ and a big {{{ hug Diane }}}

  2. “I cannot look at the moon and believe I am unloved, sense a breeze and be unmoved, know the birds’ song and feel forgotten.” These words resonate deeply within me, Diane, so beautifully put. Wishing you a lovely Valentine’s Day! ♥

  3. Oh Diane this is so lovely!

What a wonderful look at the greater meaning of love.
And your line “when I stopped looking, love stopped leaving” really touched me deeply. They are beautiful words.

And of course you are loved, by many.
“I cannot look at the moon and believe I am unloved” – another beautiful line. Your words on here are full of beautiful lines!

And I am sure you cannot look at those kities and believe you are unloved, and I have absolutely no doubt that is exactly how they feel about you.

I wonder what your dafodils can hear? They are listening to something 😊

Love and big Valentines day hugs

    Christine ❤ xx

  4. Oh, Diane, beautiful! Just beautiful. I hope you don’t mind if I reblog.

Sorry I have been so very quiet, and out of touch. I am still finding my feet here in South Africa, and the process is harder and slower than I had imagined.

    Heaps of love,
    Laurel

    • Hi, Laurel! It is so lovely to ‘see’ you here and thank you so much for reblogging. Please don’t apologize – having done the move from one country to another I totally appreciate how consuming that is. Even though you must be thrilled to be back in South Africa, it must be quite an adjustment. Hope, albeit slowly, all is going well and the family is thriving and happy.

Blessings for this St Valentine’s Day. I look forward to your ‘thoughts’ on my novel when time allows.

Love, always, and hugs, Diane XO ♥
